Celebrating Second Chances

This Easter season was an exciting time at First Baptist Carrollton!

At our Palm Sunday service, Amazing Love, we saw the largest crowd in our 10:45 service that we have seen since that service began. Our worship choir and orchestra did a beautiful job in leading this special time of worship and the Lord’s Supper. It was a great way to focus our hearts on Christ’s sacrifice as we began Holy Week.

LM-eOn Thursday night our student choirs, One Voice and Living Proof, led us in a powerful service, Lead Me to The Cross. This service was focused on the final hours of Jesus’ life and His sacrifice on the cross. It was such a blessing to see what talented students we have at our church and to hear them sing praises to the Lord. They worked hard to prepare and really did a great job in leading us in worship.

Our Easter Egg Hunt at The Fields on Saturday had a great turn out…and the weather was perfect! Someone timed how long it took to pick up all 16,500 eggs and the unofficial time was 1 minute, 45 seconds! It is difficult to know exactly how many people attended the event – but the parking lots were overflowing and we saw hundreds and hundreds of young families enjoying the day at our facility. Several families stayed after the egg hunt to picnic together and enjoy the weather.  It was a great opportunity to invite them to church and we were able to hand out cards to everyone with information about our Easter Sunday services.

On Easter Sunday morning, it was such a blessing to look out into the crowd and see so many faces that we’ve not seen before. The official count was 2,340 people attending the services on our campus this Easter – with 190 guests – over 100 of them attending for the VERY FIRST TIME! You did your part and invited friends and family to hear a message of second chances. And because of your willingness to bring people to church, we had a great response to the message! Many came forward at the end of both services and nine people accepted Christ! One of the young men who came forward was the son of a man who was born again during our Billy Graham event – Defining Moments – on February 2. What a great reminder that if we are faithful to share and to invite, God will bless in HIS timing and HIS way.

Thank you to everyone who played a part in this past week. Lives were changed, seeds were planted, and we look forward to the Harvest!
